Makerere senior Researcher Dr Stella Nyanzi has this Monday afternoon been charged with two offenses for her derogatory onslaught on the First Family.
Nyanzi who has been in police incarceration since Saturday, was charged with Cyber Harassment (against Sec 24 of the Computer Misuse Act of 2011) and Offensive Communication (against Sect 25 of the same Act).
According to prosecution, Nyanzi, on January 28 this year used a computer to post on her Facebook page, a suggestion or proposal referring President Yoweri Museveni as among others “a pair of buttocks” which is obscene or indecent.
In response, Lawyer Nicholas Opiyo who is representing Dr. Stella Nyanzi said that the state application was brought in bad faith and with an act of ambush to deny appropriate response.
However State Attorney Muwaganya requests court to remand Dr. Stella Nyanzi for up to two weeks for thorough mental examinations.
