Embattled FDC Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Hon. Apollo Kantinti has also been nominated 2 vie in the hotly contested by-election.

Mid last year, High Court judge Isabirye Kaweesa, nullified Kantinti’s election over non-compliance with election rules during the February 18 parliamentary elections.
Though the petition was raised by the National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate Sitenda Sebalu who was the former area MP and court ruled in his favour, there have been other strong personalities like the Face Ghetto President and singer Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, Muwada Nkunyingyi among others.
In the previsous election, Apollo Kantinti got 9005 votes, beating Sebalu who got 8679 with just 326 votes difference.
