Bobi Wine could not campaign near president’s venue, Shame!

With President Yoweri Museveni and Dr. Kizza Besigye throwing their weight behind their candidates Bobi Wine needed to turn the cameras towards his camp on the final day of the Kyadondo.

Robert Kyagulanyi also known as Bobi Wine has been freed after chaos marred his final campaign rally in the constituency.

Bobi Wine was picked up by police at the Kasangati Playground and detained briefly at the Kasangati Police station before being moved to Kira Police on Tuesday morning all to inform him he could not hold a rally near Wampewo where President Yoweri Museveni is expected to campaign for his NRM candidate Ssebalu.

According to Frank Mwesigwa, commandant Kampala Metropolitan Police, Bobi Wine was campaigning in an area that’s not allowed as per the electoral commission guidelines.

The Electoral commission Spokesperson Jotham Taremwa blamed one of the candidates Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine) for being at the wrong venue, which caused his arrest and detention by police.

He was later released and informed his supporters they would adhere to police instructions to move his rally to another venue in Gayaza.

“One thing you can’t change is change. They arrested me and they have released me. In order not to cause a presidential embarrassment, we have agreed to hold our rally in Gayaza. I don’t want to be a remembered as a violent man. Campaigns have been peaceful. I want my supporters to remain calm.” Said Bobi Wine.
