Gen. Muntu (LEFT) Museveni

The forum for Democratic Change party President Gen. Gregory Mugisha Muntu has said that the proposed land Amendment Bill is uncalled for

Speaking while appearing on NBS Television, the former Uganda People’s Defense forces (UPDF) commander says that The adequate and prior compensation of land should be maintained in the law that governs compulsory land acquisition by Government for Public interest.

Muntu adds that there is no need to amend the constitution of Uganda simply because government want to acquire land from private owners.

“Government has failed to effectively utilize the land they have managed to acquire from individuals thus being incapable of developing it due to poor planning strategies.” He stated.

However when Muntu was asked about the scrapping off of the Age limit, he revealed advising Museveni to leave powerthough he never listened.

“I advised Museveni in Kyankwanzi but he never listened. I told him about legacy when he was trying to change term limits” adding that ‘’ I gave him an example of Nelson Madiba Mandela who become more powerful after learning Office but he never listened” Muntu added.

It should be noted that the minister of Lands Hon Betty Amongi has been armed with state machinery to forcefully open boundaries for Amuru Land amidst tense rejection from the residents
