Security in Kampala infiltrated by criminals, Gen. Tumwine

Gen. Elly Tumwine

One of Uganda’s top ranked Uganda People’s Defense Forces officer Gen. Elly Tumwine, has thrown the country in shock when he confessed that the level of criminality in Kampala has intensified beyond reasonable doubt.

Speaking to the Media during the ruling party Liberation day celebrations in Arua, Tumwine said that the problem in Kampala needs to be combated by security agencies but not every Tom and Jerry.

Tumwine also admitted that Uganda security agencies are indeed infiltrated by criminals who are busy constraining the efforts put by the government to make Kampala a safer place live in.

He added that its might not be true that the Inspector General of Police Gen. Kale Kayihura and the security minister Gen. Henry Tumukunde are at war since they all work under same mandate.

He however warns that whoever things to continue threatening people’s lives must be tapping a wrong button since the efforts to crackdown criminality countrywide has not only intensified but become more dangerous.

Gen Tumwine is one of the 42 fighters who launched the NRA bush war that brought the ruling National Resistance Movement party in power in 1986.

However it should not be forgotten that Over 25 women were last year murdered by unknown assailants who first raped them, inserted sticks in their private parts and then dumped their bodies in Entebbe and Nansana areas of Wakiso district.

Further more, a number of people have in past year have also been attacked, robbed and others killed by members of the notorious Kifeesi gang especially in areas surrounding Kampala but there has not yet been a smooth trial to see that the perpetrators are brought to book.
