Makerere university has changed the system of paying the living out allowances (LOA).
This means that insteadof paying directly to bank accounts, money will now be paid to students on government sponsorship via their mobile phones.
“Members this shouldn’t scare you. There is a new payment system which has been rolled out in all government institutions, Makerere inclusive. Payment is called e-WALLET. MONEY GOES DIRECTLY to one’s mobile money account,” announced Kato Paul, the university guild president.
However, very many students are against this new system because they claim that the withdraw charges are expensive and also most of their sim cards are not registered to receive mobile money.
