Officials say eight police officers in Tanzania have been ambushed and killed while returning from a patrol outside the commercial centre of Dar Es Salaam.
The attack happened Thursday night in an area called Jaribu.
Chief of police Ernest Mangu said Friday the identity of the attackers is unknown.
The gunmen first fired on the driver of the patrol car before killing seven other officers and confiscating their weapons.

Interior Minister Mwigulu Nchemba says he has increased the number of police hunt down the gunmen who killed dozens of police and civilians in recent months.
