Activist Charles Rwomushana has said that the state has interests in SIM card registration.
Speaking while appearing on NBS Morning Breeze, Rwomushana added that It will benefit through taxing all calls made regardless of the fact that Ugandans are in financial crisis of not even affording 500 airtime.
Rwomushana also decries the fate of the data collected by the foreign telecommunication Companies
“Our anxiety is about the future of our data. What will these foreign companies use our data for in the future?” He asked.
The Uganda Communication Commission (UCC) recently issued a seven days Ultimatum to have all SIM Cards in Uganda re- registered.
This directive came a few days after the Police Spokes Person AIGP Asan Kasigye was threaten through a phone call that police failed to trace.
