Kampala Central Legislator Hon. Muhammad Nsereko has also joined the many Ugandans against the unfriendly Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) directive to have all SIM Card Re-registered.
Speaking to the Insider, Nsereko added that the National ID cards were not issued for security purpose but for electioneering thus describing them as being absolutely out of touch with the people on ground. Their arrogance is unacceptable.
“People are using unregistered numbers from different countries through roaming. Police are trying to curb nothing here. Issuing of national IDs and SIM card registration will not curb these kifeesi guys who break into houses.” Said Nsereko.
Nsereko also said that he has received reports that in some areas people are being charged to get national ID registration forms.
“The arrogance of thinking the minority should not be taken into account is unacceptable. The whole process of registering IDs is a fraud. It requires LC signature and we haven’t elected LCs for the last 15 years.” He added.
