Wandegeya Market traders: Why celebrate labor Day yet there is nothing to eat

As Uganda join the rest of the world in celebrating the International Labors Day, several people have given different views about the day.

Speaking to some of the traders in Wandegeya market early this morning, work is normal and even others are not even aware that today is a public holiday.

The Market is so busy like any other day, work is running so smooth with majority saying that resting on Labor Day would mean a day of hunger for their families and debt arrears.

Labour Day is an annual holiday to celebrate the achievements of workers.

In Uganda the day is to be celebrated under the theme “Building the Nation through good work ethics” with national celebrations to be held at Kamuge Saza grounds in the eastern district of Pallisa.
