The Uganda Cranes has successfully concluded the Kitara Region tour with a re-sounding performance and 3-1 victory at a fully packed Buhinga stadium in Fort Portal on Sunday.
Emmanuel Okwi scored a brace in the game with the other strike coming from Nelson Senkatuka.
The national team led 3-0 by the half time mark with Okwi scoring the first in the 24th minute.
Senkatuka powerfully nodded home the second off Shafiq Kagimu’s cross and Okwi popped home the third in the first added minute of the first half when he followed up a Hassan Wasswa Mawanda dipping header that had already beaten goalkeeper Isaac Kwizera and looked destined to cross the goal-line.
Second half substitute Beckam Musoki pulled one for the home team after he connected a re-bound when his first attempt from a penalty kick had kissed the cross bar.
Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic fielded two different teams for the game with defender Halid Lwaliwa replaced early in the first half after a leg injury.
His place was taken by Savio Kabugo in the 17th minute.
Micho appreciated the players’ effort, the opponents, fans and the sponsors for making the match a reality.
“We had a great match with good opponents. I thank everyone including the fans, players and sponsors who made the game happen” Micho said.
