Police issues traffic guidelines ahead of Martyrs day celebrations in Namugongo

With just two days to Martyrs Day celebrations, police have issued strict traffic guidelines.

Addressing journalists earlier today the Kampala Metropolitan traffic commander Norman Musinga says public and private vehicles as well as motor cycles will not go beyond the different police cut off points at Kireka Town, Nalya Round about, Kira Town, Bweyogerere and Seeta.

Musinga says pioneer buses shall be stationed at different cut off points as mentioned above to transport people at Shs 1000 to the main venue.

He adds that there will be no parking for vehicles near the Namugongo shrines but rather designated parking areas like Namboole stadium for the people using the Eastern route and Namugongo primary school for VIPs shall be allocated. He says traffic along the Kampala Jinja road will not be diverted.

Relatedly, the Church of Uganda has today organized a family gathering at the Namugongo protestant martyrs shrines.
The chairman organizing committee Isaac Membe says this event has been organized to help provide guidance and counseling to families.
