Olila High School qualified for the final of the FUFA Women’s Cup 2016/17 following a nail biting kicks from the penalty mark victory over UCU Lady Cardinals on Friday evening in Mukono.
Olila will now play Gafford Ladies in the final on 18th June, 2017 in Busia.
Normal time ended 2-2 following goals by Sharon Achieng and Cissy Nantongo (penalty) who had given Olila High a two goal lead while a penalty by Mercy Nabulobi and a strike from Esther Kadoni helped UCU level the scores to take the game into extra time.
In the penalty shoot outs; Olila’s Vanessa Karungi saved three penalties to help her side overcome UCU Lady Cardinals.
UCU blew up 4 of their 5 chances during the opportunity for kicks from the penalty mark while Olila converted two of their 4 kicks.
Kicks from the penalty mark for UCU Lady Cardinals: Teddy Najjuma, Mercy Nabulobi, Banura Pheobe and Nakigozi Elizabeth were not successful with their kicks while Kemisa Adams converted hers.
Olila had Alupo Norah and FUFA Women Elite League MVP Fazila Ikwaput scoring during the kicks from the penalty mark while Sharon Achieng and Cissy Nantongo missed.
The Inaugural FUFA Women’s Cup final 2016/17 will be played on 18th June, 2017 in Busia.
