Stephen Irumba, the former Prime Minister of Tooro Kingdom has petitioned Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda over attacks on his farm.
Irumba has been battling government over the ownership of a piece of land measuring about 200 acres in Rwentuha Sub County, Kyegegwa district. The disputed land neighbors Kyaka I Refugee Settlement.
In September last year, officials from the Ministry of Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees started a process to resettle more than 100 families on the land. Irumba said he was considering legal action against the state for illegally occupying his land.
Irumba’s lawyer Solomon Webale met Dr Ruhakana Rugunda, officials from Ministry of Lands and the Ministry of Disaster Preparedness and agreed to open the boundaries on the disputed land to ascertain the owner. The meeting held last week eached to carry out the exercise before the end of this month.
