During the same plenary sitting of Tuesday 04th July, Members were informed that Parliament will on Thursday, 6th July 2017 hold a special sitting to pay tribute to the late former Mayor of Kampala, John Ssebaana Kizito, who passed away at Nakasero Hospital Monday, 3rd July 2017.
Oulanyah said that Ssebaana had an illustrious career having served in various capacities as a civil servant, Chief Executive Officer of Government parastatals, Legislator at the Buganda Kingdom and Uganda and East Africa.
Parliament observed a minute’s silence in honour of Ssebaana, who was also a Minister in the Government of Uganda, President of the Democratic Party and a prominent businessman and entrepreneur.
“What is noteworthy however, is that he served with distinction and selflessly for Buganda, Uganda and East Africa. His footprints will remain written indelibly in the social, political and economic affairs and annals of Uganda and East Africa,” said Oulanyah.
“As legislators, there is a lot that can be learnt and emulated from him. I wish to salute Luweero and Buganda for giving us this icon,” he added.
