The Butambala Legislator Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi has described the current government regime as a ‘Kangaroo regime’.
Speaking during the 89.2 CBS FM Radio Talk show on Wednesday evening, the shadow minister added that President Museveni has a mission of ruling Uganda as a monarchy a move that is being executed through some ‘visionless legislators.’
Kivumbi also notes that serious legislators deserve to be discussing about peace transition of power but not doing propaganda for other leaders.
“Museveni’s 31 rule has been a disgrace to this state and he also doesn’t like associating with intellectuals, he goes for visionless people like Hon. Abiriga, Hon. Anite and others.” Kivumbi narrated to Meddie Nsereko the program host.
Anite and Abiriga saga.
Minister Evelyn Anite the former Northern Region Youth Member of Parliament rose to fame recently during the National Resistance movement (NRM) Kyangwanzi retreat in 2014 when she knelt and urged President Museveni to seek re-election in 2016 elections as a sole candidate.
Though this move was massively supported by the party members, but it also blocked chases of some party members who has intensions of running against the president in the party primaries like the Former NRM General Secretary John Patrick Amama Mbabazi who was sucked from the Prime Minster position shortly after Anite’s move.
Mbabazi decided to run against Museveni with the Go Forward pressure group and become Number three with less than 5% after Kiiza Besigye and Museveni who got 35.4% and 60.8% respectively.
Hon. Ibrahim Abiriga
The Arua municipality legislator Hon. Ibrahim Abiriga has also rose to fame for being behind the team planning to scrap off article 102 of the Uganda Constitution a close that provides for Presidential term age.
This article depicts that one should not be allowed to run for presidency position is he/she is beyond 75 years of age however some National Resistance movement (NRM) members insist that this article should be scrapped off to enable President to run for another term in office.
Hon. Abirigi is on record describing President Museveni who has ruled Uganda since 1986 as an angel form God and should be allowed to rule till his death.
This move has however sparked off a lot of criticism from both opposition, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) and even party members from the ruling party.
