Police spokesperson has warned Nalufenya police officers not to be tempted to torture the 56 FDC leaders who were arrested in Kiira municipality.
According to Kasingye 24 people were arrested from Magere, 14 arrested from St. Kizito kiri, 13 from Gayaza and five from Nangabo sub-county.
The suspects were taken to Nalufenya police station and detention Centre for holding unlawful rallies which is contrast to the public order management act.
Kasingye re-assured them of safety during custody as investigations continues for them to be prosecuted in court.
However he promised to drag police officers into the professional police unit (PPU) for them to be disciplined and prosecuted in case the detainees are reported tortured.
Over the last three month, Nalufenya dentation center became a devil for most of the Ugandans following the torture of the late Andrew Felix Kaweesi’s murder suspects including the mayor for Kamwenge Godfrey Byamukama. Byamukama was arrested from the ministry of lands along parliamentary avenue by two police officers and was hoodwinked that they were taking him to Naguru police headquarters and in turn drove him off to Nalufenya. The three police officers were arrested and are standing trial though on bail.
