Stop depending on offertory, Museveni tells off Christians

Museveni with some Church of Uganda leaders

President, Yoweri Museveni has urged churches in Uganda to avoid depending on offertories but engage in business for sustainability.

Museveni made the statement in a message delivered by the Vice President, Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi during celebrations to mark 50 years of Ankole Diocese held at Ruharo Cathedral.

“It was very crucial for the church to embrace income generating activities since it has a lot of activities that can’t be dependent on collections from Christians and other well-wishers.” He stated.

In the same message the president called for concerted efforts to fight environmental degradation, and asked the clergy to rally their flock to minimise threats to the environment.
