Police only protecting VIPs and not civilians – Egesa

Fred Egesa

David Fred Egesa, from the celebrated Missing Link, a private crime investigators firm has said the Uganda police is much more focused on protecting VIPs and not the civilians.

Speaking while appearing on NBS Television on Tuesday morning, Egesa added though Kayihura puts in efforts, some departments lack a strong foundation and drive in executing of the duties.

“IGP Kayihura is doing everything but he has allowed CID to be hollow; it’s built on a polythene foundation. The CID headquarters are like a poultry farm and I don’t even know if the officers are facilitated.”

Egesa also noted that criminals have outsmarted police and are now killing for leisure and no one seems to be concerned.

He also faulted the tendency of making quick conclusions on cases citing that it gives criminals a new direction to continue these acts. ‘For the time being, I disregard anything related to rituals killings; these are brutal and savage killings.’

“Police want us to believe that investigations are so complex and they are the only ones who can do it. They’ve not been careful, they don’t bother to take any investigations serious; they should have investigative stores.” He added.
