The nation has been slapped with melancholy following the death of newly elected chairman of the East African Business Council Kassim Omar.
According to close relatives, Kassim succumbed after a blood clot operation at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala.
The chairman Private Sector Foundation of Uganda Patrick Bitature, says Omar’s unfortunate death is a big loss to the business fraternity in East Africa especially to Uganda.
Bitature also notes that as a business leader in Uganda and the region, Omar has been so passionate about seeing the plight of the business community solved through his engagements with counterparts in the region.
Omar was elected chairman of the regional private sector body in June this year, taking over from Audace Ndayizeye, of the Federal Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Burundi will be laid to rest at his home in Gayaza on Wednesday.
