Makerere university students have decided to join their solidarity by putting an end to lectures that are to be carried out in the University premises until the release of the students that were arrested.
Following the arrest of Makerere FDC leaders and many other Students yesterday during the demonstration against the amendment of the age limit article in the constitution, a rumor has been circulating around campus that the arrested students will be taken to Nalufenya.
This has angered the students who have decided to fight and put a stop to all university activities until the release of their comrades. ‘It is on a sad note that our students are still under detention in the various police posts around town.
We shall not sit back as we watch a dictatorship rob us of our human freedoms. Our students have to be freed. Say No to Nalufenya. Makerere let us rise.’ said Sabiti Sylvester the Information Minister of the 83rd Guild of Makerere University.
Tension in the University has increased as the students are determined move to all police stations to ensure the release of all students.
