Mwenda: Besigye needs age limit more than Museveni who could die anytime

Besigye and Mwenda

Veteran Journalist and political critic Andrew Mwenda has said that the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party’s Dr Kizza Besigye who would be in need of the age limit removal more than anyone else.

Speaking while appearing on NBS Television Frontline talk show, Mwenda said that FDC is not any different for the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) save for their positions in government noting that When Dr Besigye stood for presidency in 2001, he did not know he would be returning to stand in 2006, 2011 and 2016. But he came and he will still return even in 2021 and 2031. Therefore, he needs the age limit removal more than Museveni who could die any time.

“Had Besigye won the election in 2016, these FDC people would be shouting Besigye for life and rushing to amend the same constitution,” he added.

Mwenda also reiterated that Museveni and Besigye are made of the same cloth, arguing that even the parties they lead are indistinguishable.

“The difference between the two is that one is Besigye and another is Museveni. Give Besigye power and he will be the same, corruption wise, governance and intolerance,” Mwenda said.

However, FDC spokesperson, Ibrahim Ssemujju said that his party would not seek the position the NRM is seeking today in amending the law to allow individual interests.
