Security minister Lt. Gen. Henry Tumukunde has washed allegations of being at crossroads with the Inspector General of Police Gen. Kale Kayihura.
Speaking while appearing on NBS Television on Tuesday morning, Tumukunde said that those comparing him with Kayihura are doing a mistake since the duo does different responsibilities and answerable to different people.
He added that though the Kayihura is directly deployed by the president, he is under a ministry and answerable to Gen. Jeje Odong unlike him who is answerable only to the Fountain of Honour.
“You cannot compare a journalist to an intelligence officer though they both deal in the gathering of information, this so applies to the police and security departments.” He said.
He further clarifies that security and policing are two different things and have no way they should be combined because not every police officer can do intelligence.
