Gulu University students have decided to join other universities in the struggle to ensure that the constitution is not amended.
Earlier this morning, the students resorted to fights and running around campus premises with red ribbons on their heads singing the national anthem and ‘togikwatako’ a Luganda slogan meaning don’t touch it.
This caused police to use rubber bullets and teargas so that the students and residents who joined them can be dispersed and controlled.
There has been no lecture since morning and all the businesses in the area have been put to close for security purposes.
However all this was in vain as they decided to carry the demonstrations of campus premises and police didn’t hesitate to arrest over 20 students that were active in the demonstration.
