Besigye to face murder charges, denied police bond

Dr Kizza Besigye, the former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate is detained at Nagalama Police Station in Mukono District.

Besigye’s dentition follows the Thursday incident when he was arrested at Burambira village in Bubaare Sub-county in Rubanda District on their way from Rukungiri to Rubanda District.

He was arrested along with FDC presidential candidate Patrick Amuriat aka POA and the party secretary for mobilization Ingrid Turinawe who have also been transferred to the same prison this afternoon.

News reaching our desk reveals that the vibrant leader has also been denied police bond over unclear circumstances.

However according to the area RPC Denis Namuwoza said Dr Besigye is wanted in Rukungiri where he allegedly commanded a group of people who pelted stones at the police officers as they tried to disperse FDC supporters who had gathered to listen to Mr Amuriat.

Mr Amuriat was in the district to solicit for votes ahead of the FDC presidential election.
