Besigye airlifted back to Rukungiri amidst fresh protests threats

Police Chopper

Former presidential Candidate Dr. Kiiza Besigye has been airlifted back to Rukungiri this evening.

Besigye who was first driven out of Nagalama police station in a police van alongside his co accused was airlifted after a number of opposition leaders had resolved to trek along the police vans up to his home town.

This action came a few hours after Nagalama police disobeyed court orders that demanded for unconditional release of the veteran bush war officer since he had been in detention beyond 48hours without appearing before the courts law.

According to our close sources Besigye was transferred to Rukungiri so that he can be able to appear in court tomorrow morning.

Kizza Besigye, FDC secretary for Mobilization, Ingrid Turinawe, FDC presidential candidate Patrick Amuriat and Rukungiri district Councillor, Innocent Tashobya have been detained at Nagalama since their arrest from Rukungiri on Thursday last week.

However news reaching our desk indicate that Besigye loyalists in Rukungiri are planning to start massive protests against the unlawful detention of their son and leader.
