Following the continued doctors strike that has paralyzed health conditions in the entire nation, former presidential candidate Dr. Kiiza Besigey has decided to go on ground to access the situation.
Besigye’s abrupt visit to Mulago Hospital Kawempe this morning revealed a lot of business standstill and majority of the patients not being attended to something that forced him to meet the hospital administrators and discussed a number of issues for about an hour.
The Kampala City Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago, Kawempe South Member of Parliament Mubarak Munyagwa were some of the delegates he moved with.
At the time of his visit, the Uganda people’s Defense Forces (UPDF) had just deployed 11 doctors to give a supportive arm to the patients who needed immediate medical attention.
The Doctors under their umbrella of the Uganda Medical workers Association have been on strike for about three weeks over grievances related to poor working conditions.
