An updated list of banned drugs, substances and methods in sports inclusive of football has been released by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) to FIFA for its 211 Member Associations (MAs).
In a detailed Circular from FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura, she has advised all MAs of FIFA to spread the message to all football stakeholders in their respective countries.
FUFA has also sent out the circular to its stakeholders in regard to the 2018 list of banned drugs, substances and methods in sports.
FUFA CEO Edgar Watson thus wrote in the communication dated 29th November, 2017 to the various stakeholders of football in Uganda;
‘Stakeholders are reminded that all FUFA Competitions are subjected to FIFA and WADA regulations. while Anti-Doping officials will continue to test Ugandan Players during in and out of Competitions in Uganda’
‘The List shows what substances and methods are prohibited, in and out of Competitions; and which substances are banned in differed sports including football’ added Watson
The circular comes into force on 1st January 2018.
FIFA has urged players and officials to keep the beautiful game as clean as possible and win fairly.
‘FUFA would like to remind all players that it is their duty to ensure they do not take any forbidden substances. Players should be mindful of the products and substances they take’
