Opposition legislators have opposed the proposal to revise the term of Members of parliament from five to seven years.
Speaking to The Insider, the Rubaga North Member of Parliament Hon. Moses Kasibante described the team behind the 7 year term proposal as unpatriotic and gluttonous.
Kasibante adds that the legislators are thinking about themselves at the expense of their voters.
He says this only demonstrates the fact that some MPs look at parliament as a source of their survival and Museveni as their employee something that has killed the excellence of the August House.
The idea, proposed by President Museveni while meeting the committee recently, is that a political term for both the President and Members of Parliament be adjusted to seven years as opposed to the current five years.
According to the Government Chief Whip, Ruth Nankabirwa says that the proposal was one of the major issues discussed during the caucus meeting.
She disclosed that they had set up a seven member team to look into the technicality and legal aspects of the proposal for consideration.
It should be noted that the proposed extension of the term of office of the legislators was first raised by the Arua Municipality Member of Parliament, Ibrahim Abiriga.
