Best pupils in the 2017 Primary Leaving Education (PLE) have been named.
On Friday, First Lady Janet Kataaha Museveni, Minister for Education and Sports received the PLE results that indicated a tremendous improvement in performance compared to the previous year (2016).
The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) said that 90.9percent of the candidates passed registering an improvement from the previous year’s 87.02percent.
According to UNEB, from a total of 628,606 candidates who sat in last year’s exams, 57,198 candidates passed in Division One while 293,977 passed in Division Two. 128,573 passed in Division Three, 91, 504 passed in Division Four, while 57,354 candidates were ungraded.
Among the top performing districts include; Kampala with 7,745 candidates in first division, followed by Wakiso with 4,370 in first division, Kiira municipality with 1,881, Nansana municipality, Mbarara municipality, Mukono municipality, Masaka municipality and Rakai among others.
