I can’t adjourn plenary because court – Kadaga raps Judiciary

Rebecca Kadaga

The Speaker of Parliament Hon Rebecca Kadaga has called upon Judiciary to stop undermining the independence of the legislative arm of Government.

Speaking during the opening of the new law year at high court on Monday 29th January, Kadaga said that the high court summons issued to have her appear before court on December 20th over the suspension of Opposition members of Parliament was not only funny but incredible.

Kadaga says that court cannot direct her to adjourn the house to appear before case hearing of a Member of Parliament.

“I find it incredible to ask me to adjourn or stop the house to come and attend court, lets give each other space to work,” Kadaga said.

She added that Parliament has no problem with the Judiciary analysing the laws it passes as long as it doesn’t direct them on what to do.
