Parliament has successfully vetted and approved Bank of Uganda (BoU) members of board of directors for renewal of their contracts.
This was after President Yoweri Museveni in his letter to the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga informed parliament to vet the four BoU non executive directors.
However, without giving any reason, the President declined to renew the contract of Ibrahim Kabanda, one of the members of board of directors. Kabanda has been replaced by Josephine Okui Ossiya.
The four BoU board members who were successfully vetted and approved by the parliamentary appointments committee on Thursday include; William Kalema, James Kahoza and Judy Obitre-Gama and Josephine Okui Ossiya.
Clerk to Parliament Jane Kibirige on Thursday informed members on Appointment committee to meet to vet the four members of board of directors.
“HE the President wrote to the Rt. Hon Speaker of Parliament recommending the renewal of contract for the current members of board of directors, Bank of Uganda save for Mr. Ibrahim Kabanda who has been replaced by Ms Josephine Okui Ossiya,” Kibirige’s letter reads.
In the meeting chaired by Kadaga, the BoU bosses were approved for another five year in office.
