The Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) has this morning finally released the long awaited UCE results.
Speaking to the Media at the president’s office in Kampala, Dan Odong, UNEB Executive Secretary said that Passes at distinction & credit level in Physics & chemistry are below 20%. Majority of the examination malpractices were reported in science subjects, biology being the most affected with 39.7%, followed by physics at 20%, Chemistry 10%, and Maths 6.7%
He also noted that females edged males in English language, performance generally declined at distinction and credit levels compared to 2016.
The board has withheld results of 4,525 candidates from various examination centers where a total of 81 suspects were arrested due to examination malpractices , 49 appeared in court and are on bail , 21 jumped police bond and criminal summons have been issued against them ,11 are due in court as their files are still with the DPP for sanctioning.
Odong added that the absenteeism rate is slightly declining. “We also noted that absenteeism among boys was slightly higher than that of the girls, most of the girls who registered did the examinations.”
UNEB has maintained its center at Luzira prisons to assist Uganda prisons to rehabilitate inmates ,55 candidates registered ( 3passed in Div 1, 10 in div 2 ,13 in Div 3 and 26 obtained division 4. Only one failed and two were absent
As requested by schools, candidates with outstanding fees balances’ results will not be available on SMS platforms, they will be accessed at school premises after clearing.
