Police officer ASP Rashid Semugenyi who was left to die on his sickbed has breathed his last at Mulago Hospital-Kiruddu.
ASP Semugenyi attached to Mitooma Police Station died on Tuesday night after battling kidney failure for less than a year.
Barely two days ago, The Insider broke a story revealing how the money amounting to about Shs100m meant for flying Semugenyi to India for kidney transparent went missing after top bosses in Uganda Police Force declined to release the money.
Last year, Police had promised to pay for the kidney transplant and associated costs of the treatment in India, but by the time of his death, no coin had been released.
ASP Semugenyi was in May 2017 diagnosed with kidney failure at Case Hospital where he has since then been receiving dialysis until he was thrown out and recently referred to Mulago Hospital Kirrudu.
Before he was kicked out of Case Hospital, his bill had accumulated to Shs40m, save for bighearted socialite Bryan White who cleared Shs10m debt.
Semugenyi who has died at age of 28 was married to a one Aisha who works as a shop keeper around Old Kampala Mosque. He has left 2 young children.
