No doubt, Police will fight criminality – Minister Odongo

The Minister for Internal Affairs Hon. Gen. Jeje Odongo yesterday opened the Police Council meeting at Marine base in Kigo, Entebbe.

The meeting is running under the theme: “Fighting Criminality Through Rectification and Building Policing System “.

In his address, the minister highlighted the major reasons for the meeting.

“This is a routine institutional appraisal meeting in which we take the opportunity to discuss and suggest policy options for the management and administration of the Uganda Police Force.”

“This is for us really to see how we can influence our colleagues in the Force for rectification purposes, efficiency gains in management of the resources at our disposal, and management of processes that we are involved in the improvement of our performance.”

He urged the Officers to discuss pertinent issues affecting policing, I would like to encourage you when you leave this meeting that the matters you have discussed are not for public consumption but for you to go back and implement, they should affect your performance here after.”

The minister also Launched the Police Strategic and Annual Policing Plan 2015- -2016, 2019 -2020 and the 2017 annual work plan.

The Inspector General of Police Gen. Kale Kayihura in his address highlighted the objectives of the meeting among which is to review security situation ,improving planning and management in the Force, harmonising priorities and resources allocated following the 13 strategic tasks so as to deliver the police mandate
