Police impounds cocaine worth billions of shillings

Police with the suspect

A team from the Uganda Police force has sealed off a building in Namasuba and arrested a man who is part of a drug cartel that smuggles drugs in and out of the country.

The suspect identified as Idrissa Traore a national from Mali was found with cocaine weighing 7 kgs worth 1.7 billion shillings.

This was after the Director of Criminal Investigations in Burundi tipped us that they had arrested a one Musa Fofona at Bujumbura Airport trying to smuggle cocaine who later revealed to us that it belonged to Traore.

“We discovered that Traore has lived in Uganda for 20 years and has been in the process of applying for a Ugandan Passport. We are more than before committed to fighting drug smugglers, working with neighboring countries because sometimes apart from the airports, drugs are smuggled across our porous borders.” Police Noted.

So far two people have been arrested the first being a lady called Beatrice Isaro from Rwanda who was also arrested at Entebbe airport trying to smuggle Cocaine worth 397 million shillings and also Allen Nankanja arrested in October 2017 trying to smuggle cocaine worth 875 million shillings from Brazil into the country.

He has been charged on File no. CRB 48/2018
