Brig. Sabiiti Muzeyi, newly appointed Deputy Inspector General of Police (IGP) has said he is very lucky to work under new IGP Ochola Okoth.
The former commandant of Military Police was appearing before the Appointments Committee at parliament for vetting. Brig. Muzeyi was on Sunday appointed as deputy IGP after President Museveni fired IGP Kale Kayihura and Security minister Henry Tumukunde and replaced them with Ochola and Gen Elly Tumwine respectively.
There have been media reports that Ochola is only a ceremonial IGP and that critical decisions will be made by Brig Muzeyi.
According to a source, Brig. Sabiiti told the committee during a closed door vetting meeting that he will pay allegiance to the new IGP Ochola saying he is lucky to work under an officer who has been in police leadership for long.
Sabiiti told the committee chaired by Speaker Rebecca Kadaga that he is also team player and has worked with police since 2007 during Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) to date.
