Police threatens to arrest men plotting to beat women

The Uganda police force has threatened to arrest anyone who gets involved in domestic violence.

This statement follows the video clip attributed to Hon Onesmus Twinamatsiko that has been circulating on social media encouraging violence against women.

According to a statement from police spokesperson Emilian Kayima, said that it would be very unfortunate, unforgivable since what he is promoting is unacceptable as it facilities crime: assault (Penal Code Act), domestic violence (Domestic Violence Act 2010) and others.

This comes immediately after HE the president castigated men who beat women while speaking at the International Women’s Day celebrations in Busuubizi, Mityana District.

He said that he has however said that it’s encouraging that Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament has promised to investigate this matter
