The electoral commission has finally declared Forum for Democratic Change’s (FDC) candidate, Paul Mwiru as the winner of the Jinja Municipality East by-election.
The declaration that was made at exactly 10pm, indicated that Mwiru got 6,654 votes while NRM’s Nathan Igeme Nabeta got 5043 votes.
In his victory speech, Mwiru thanked the voters for ending the love and reclaiming their stolen victory.
Mwiru added that braving the rain, and rejecting money to vote him into power is something he will advocate for.
“I knew I was dealing with a fraudulent system. There were fake ballot papers which we intercepted and presented to the media. I thank the media for working with us to expose all this.” Mwiru said.
