Godfrey Mutabazi the Uganda communications commission (UCC) director has insisted on the command issued to all Telecom operators to recall all unregistered simcards.
Mutabazi insists that telecom operators should immediately stop the sale of SIM cards and airtime through vendors and other establishments that are not licensed by the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA)
He adds that all airtime venders should immediately return unused scratch cards, vacate streets or be arrested and penalized heavily.
According to UCC, this is being done in bid to mitigate the existing flaws in the internal processes of the telecommunication operators which have been exploited by criminals to commit cyber related offences.
