UCC suspends 23 Radio Station Licenses over witchcraft

The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has this morning suspends 23 Radio Stations’ licenses over promoting and advertising witchcraft content, aiding and abetting electronic fraud.

Speaking during the UCC Law Conference, the institution’s Executive Director Godfrey Mutabazi said that all the suspended Radio stations will receive shutdown orders to stop broadcasting immediately.

Some of the suspended stations include Radio Kitara, Kiira FM, Victoria FM, Hits FM, Bambo FM, Dana FM, Gold FM, Ssebo FM, Eye FM & RFM.

Mutabazi also talked about the increasing rate of cybercrimes that he said will soon become history since a number of measures have been put in place to the curb the vise.

“Let me start with cybercrime which involves using a computer or various forms of computer technology to commit offences. Mobile Money Fraud privacy exploitation ATM Fraud Cyber Bullying are some of the common ones.” He said.
