We are not fighting church leaders – Rugunda

Following the Namirembe Cathedral incident where a man tried to attack Bishop Kityo Luwalira while preaching on Easter day, Government has ensured all religious leaders that government is keenly taking care of their security.

Speaking while reacting to numerous concerns raising in the Media, the prime minister of Uganda Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda said that despite this nasty incidence, security at all prayer places will remain at maximum thereby dismissing any possibility of laxity in security.

He said that currently there is no call for alarm on the fate of religious leader’s security, government is in control.

During the good Friday service, Archbishop of Kampala Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga urged President Yoweri Museveni not to act on false information supplied to him by some unscrupulous security agents that he and other clerics are plotting to plans to topple the government.

Dr. Lwanga pointed a finger at elements in the Internal Security Organization, military intelligence and the and Police who he said had even recruited priests to spy on him and other clerics
