Joint consultations for the upcoming peace revitalization forum led the regional Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) to be held on 26th of April will begin on Saturday in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa. Radio Tamazuj reports.
In a statement late last month, the South Sudan’s opposition alliance made up of nine rebel groups agreed to take part in the consultations but said they had one common position and should be consulted as one entity.
Gabriel Changson a leader of the Federal Democratic Party and a signatory to the statement said that they had received invitation to the consultations to start on 14th of April.
“On behalf of the opposition group, the consultations will begin on 14th, so we will go on the 12 or 13 in Addis. All of the 9 groups, will be represented by two people each. We will be 18 in total,” he said.
Other members of the alliance include Thomas Cirillo, leader of National Salvation Front, Lam Akol, leader of South Sudan’s National Democratic Movement, Hakim Dario Moi, chairman of PDM, Bapiny Monytuil, chairman of SSLM/A, Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro, chairman of National Movement for Change, Costello Garang Ring, leader of South Sudan Patriotic Movement, Pagan Amum, leader of SPLM-DFs and Peter Gatdet Yak, chairman of South Sudan United Movement.
