The state Minister of Defense Okello Enkola has disowned the fact that Crime Preventers are part of the Uganda People’s Forces reserve forces.
Minister made this statement while appearing before the Parliamentary Committee on Tuesday afternoon where MPs led by Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi grilled the ministry officials over the role of crime preventers in the force.
Enkola added that though president Museveni recently passed an order to have crime preventers fixed in the reserve force, its not a one day issue to have them added the to the force because they have undergo specific procedures including training.
“Simply because president Museveni ordered for their consideration doesn’t mean that it will all be done in one week. All I say is that crime preventers are not yet in the UPDF but they are in transition.” Minister said.
