The Principal Judge, Hon. Justice Dr Yorokamu Bamwine, urged internal auditors to change their attitudes in order to propel their value in the organizations they serve.
He made these remarks while presiding over the opening of the 13th Annual Internal Audit Conference at the Commonwealth Resort at Munyonyo. The three-day Conference is held under the theme; “Rise up Reinvent and propel your value”.
The President of the Institute of Internal Auditors Uganda, Mr. Walter Okello, thanked the Principal Judge for making time to officiate at the conference.
Hon.Justice Dr. Bamwine said auditing the cornerstone of good public sector governance. He applauded the auditors for safeguarding the reputations of their various institutions.
“An organization’s reputation is its most precious resource and I thank you for safeguarding it.” He added that building confidence in institutions requires a change of attitude. “…bad attitude is like a flat tyre, you cannot go anywhere until you change it.”
The Principal Judge cited the example of the Judiciary which has embarked on a number of reforms aimed at bringing about accountability and building public confidence.
The keynote speaker, Ms Jenitha John, a renowned international auditor, urged participants to take seriously the advice given by the Principal Judge.
