Energy Minister Hon. Irene Muloni
Energy Minister Hon. Irene Muloni has called upon Ugandans to appreciate the efforts being set by UMEME the company responsible for electricity distribution in the country.
Speaking during Thursday’s Plenary, the Minister noted that though there is existence of some technical Challenges, the situation is being handled appropriately and all will be sorted in the shortest time possible.
“UMEME is experiencing technical challenges regarding YAKA. But the good news is that UMEME is handling the situation.” Minister stated.
Muloni also revealed that the technical challenge is on the interface between UMEME and Telecommunication companies and this was because of traffic which has been rectified and the consumers buying electricity using Mobile Money are now at comfort.
On responding to Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah’s inquiry on how UMEME will respond to the many callers with complaints, Minister Muloni pledged to ensure that UMEME team triples the efforts and address issues with power supply in the country since it’s a listening and hardworking team.
“We already have contractual engagements on the security of energy in Uganda. I implore colleagues to appreciate the need for power security and to respect the available arrangements to achieve this, its not one day move but let’s so far give credit where it deserves.” She added.
