The window to former Minister of Internal affairs Late Aronda Nyakairima has been summed to appear before the lands commission of Inquiry.
Mrs Aronda who is expected to appear on 16th May, is meant answer questions regarding the acquirement of a piece of land by her late husband.
According to the commission chair Lady Justice Catherine Bamugemereire revealed that summon has come after her failure to respect the commission’s earlier summons.
A number of Top government officials have so far appeared before the lands commission of inquiry and these include Tooro Kingdom’s Queen Mother Best Kemigisa, Minister Hon. Betty Amongi, the Permanent Secretary Pius Bigirimana.
A few days back, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni extended the tenure of commission of inquiry into land matters for another 18 months.
President also appointed Dr. Douglas Singiza as the Commission’s new Secretary replacing Justice Olive Kazaarwe Mukwaya who was recently appointed a Judge of the High court.
Justice Bamugemeire says the renewal of the commission’s term and the subsequent appointments were done as per legal notice no.6 of 2018 of the Commissions Terms of Reference.
She has pledged to uphold the mandate entrusted to them, and to do a good job that will change land is administration, acquisition management and registration in Uganda.
