The opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has described the Rukungiri woman MP by-election as a war between the state machinery and the people of Uganda.
This comment follows the victory of Betty Muzanira who defeated ruling party’s Winnie Masiko with a big margin.
FDC says this victory is a sign of commitment the people of Uganda has towards achieving change.
“Regardless of all efforts launched by the Junta to rig our victory, our people remained committed and refused to get subjected to the threats and hundreds of guns deployed in the community.” The FDC Secretary General Hon. Nandala Mafabi said.
It should be noted that Nyakishenyi Sub-county Electoral Commission officials first held all the ballot boxes and results of the S/county at Nyakishenyi S/County Hqs since 6pm without any known reason.
“FDC election officials including General Muntu, Ingrid Turinawe, Hon Wilfred Nuwagaba and many others had to camp at this S/County till late to see that no one messed up with the people’s voice. This is the same area where results were altered in the 2016 general election.” Dr. Kiiza besigye said.
