President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has this evening lampooned national and local leaders over failure to transform the communities they represent.
Speaking while delivering 2018 State of the Nation Address at Serena Hotel in Kampala, president said these leaders spend a lot of time on public relations and less on substance.
Museveni describes Public Relations (PR) as the act of attending church services, weddings burials etc instead of venturing in activities that can transform people’s livelihood especially substance farming.
“I have been traversing the country to mobilise Ugandans into commercial agriculture. With my late colleague, Mwesigwa Black, we sensitized the nomadic Banyankore as to the need to become sedentary, they eventually jouned the dairy industry. Unfortunately, many leaders are never bothered with substance of leadership.” He said.
He also noted that Leaders need to know the strategic issues that transform societies. Helping people to solve problems will earn you durable popularity.
