Arua Municipality MP Ibrahim Abiriga who was on Friday evening gunned down by unknown assailants will lie in state on Sunday for fellow parliamentarians to pay tribute.
According to Chris Obore, director, Communication and Public Affairs at Parliament, the Clerk to Parliament, Jane Kibirige has called for a special sitting tommorow(Sunday) for MPs to pay tribute to the slain NRM enthusiastic cadre.
“The Clerk to Parliament informs Members of Parliament that there will be a sitting on Sunday at 9 am to pay tribute to the late Arua Municipality MP Hon Ibrahim Abiriga. The body of the late will be brought to the House. May His Soul Rest In Peace,” Obore said in a message.
The former Yumbe and Arua Resident District Commissioner (RDC) was shot dead along with his brother at Kawanda near his home.
Abiriga’s body is expected to be laid to rest on Monday or Tuesday according to the tentative program.
Earlier on Sunday, his body will be taken to Gaddafi Mosque before its flown to Arua for locals to pay their last respects and then buried on Monday.
